The reimagining of a beautiful farmhouse to improve flow, light and character.

Set within the rolling Somerset countryside, Charlton Farm is a substantial farmhouse formed from the joining of two former dwellings. While rich in rustic charm, the layout lacks cohesion and the sense of character the clients hope to achieve.

Our brief is to reconfigure the principal interior spaces to create a warm and welcoming family home with a stronger sense of flow and connection. The design will draw on the character of the surrounding landscape, balancing a relaxed, rural sensibility with a quiet layer of refinement.

A rich, enveloping palette will be introduced throughout the scheme. Natural materials and gentle pattern reference the gardens and countryside beyond, reflecting the clients’ love of National Trust houses and landscapes while grounding the interiors firmly within their setting.
